Plain style はむずかしいです。
It is a little bit confusing beacuse of the dropping of particles and the dropping of the ます forms,
but also it feels like we have to "unlearn" what we have learned so far.
Does anyone else have any opinions on this?

plain styleはむずかしいですか。It's just a different style, that's all. You shouldn't feel like you "unlearn" anything. I wonder why you feel like that way...
Plain style は same as short form ですか。
ノックす大学で私と short form を べんきょうします。
I think it is difficult, because it's just one more thing (well, more like four or five more things) you have to remember on top of everything else.
i think it's beacuse i have become so used to using the particles it feels strange to drop them from a sentence.
also, i agree that it is just a couple of more things to remember.
